The Borneo Youth Leadership Conference is a unique, life-changing experience for young leader who attend each year. It attracts youth from all around the world and introduces the younger generation to successful and inspirational personalities. During the six-day conference, delegates are challenged to learn, develop and practice leadership skill that they will use to enhance their lives. Also, it provides students with the opportunity to test their leadership abilities in leadership simulation scenarios and workshops. The ultimate goal of the conference is to motivate the youth to pursue their dreams and goals with a renewed sense of believe and determination, through meeting and engaging with BYLC’s distinguish and reputable speakers.
The theme for this year conference is “Empowering Gen-Y”, which focuses on developing Millennial Generation. Gen-Yers were born between late 1970s and 2000; this newest group presents a unique and exciting leadership challenge. They are indisputably bright and talented, yet they think differently, have unique needs and require new management styles. However, the myths stating that Gen-Yers are lazy, they need instant gratifications, disloyal and selfish. Gen-Yers has been unfairly stereotyped and it is crucial that they know how to deal with these myths.

STUDENT SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Students aged of 17-26 at the time of BYLC 2016 from colleges and universities around the world.
2. Students who are healthy, curious, aspirant and outgoing.
3. Students should exhibit strong cross-cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
4. Students who have the ability to communicate and express themselves in English.
5. Students who can be comfortable in working in a cooperative manner.

The selection process is as below:
Step 1: Assessment
Students shall be required to fill a Participation Registration Form (refer to Page 5).
Each interested candidate shall required to send in an approximately 500 words essay with the following details:
+Title: Do you agree that Generation Y is the dumbest generation?
+ Length: 500words

Step 2: An Interview
In the event that we are not satisfied with the step 1, candidate will be contact by our committee to arrange a time for a virtual interview.
This is a last chance and an opportunity for you to tell us more about your motivations for applying, your achievements, the challenges you’ve faced and how you’ve demonstrated the qualities we’re looking for.The interview will take place over the Skype or Google Hangout.

Step 3: Payment
Upon being accepted into the conference, payment of the total registration fee of all students and guardians must be made.
Successful Applicants will be required to submit the following documents to the conference organizers:
- Consent Form of all students
- A formal letter from the respective institute consisting of:
+ Names of its students participating in the conference
+ Contact details of the person in-charge of the students
+ An official stamp of the respective institute
- Proof of payment of the Registration Fee
- Successful applicants from your institute shall be charged a Registration Fee of:
+ USD$ 250PER STUDENT (Early Bird) – Payment made before 1st May 2016
+ USD$ 300 PER STUDENT – Payment made before 15th June 2016
+ USD$ 300 PER GUARDIAN
The Status of each application will be communicated to the respective application via email within 48 hours after receiving the relevant documents.

You want to improve your English without having to pay for classes at English centres?

You have to spend time on extracurricular activities, part-time jobs or other activities, thus you have no time to practice English?

You are too shy to speak up and afraid you’ll have nothing to say?

You want to practice English in the most relaxing and comfortable ways?

You want to discover cultures in the world and brush up your study skills?

The answer to all these questions lies in CTU English Club, proudly presented to you by Department of International Integration and CTU Union Youth. The club will be officially launched on 29 February 2016 at Students’ Corner (former Youth Union office’s canteen). It is promising that CTU English Club will be an ideally student-friendly location for those who want to ameliorate English skills and meet new people.

CTU English Club’s main activities:

  1. English Hour: 5pm – 6pm; Mon – Thu.

- Participants are highly encouraged to use English to talk to one another and to the Club’s volunteers.

-Participating time depends on your enthusiasm and your schedule.

-Participants can freely choose their partners or ask the volunteers for help.

-Talking topic is optional. Volunteers can offer you some interesting topics if needed.

  1. Guests meeting.

- 5pm – 5.45 pm every Friday.

- Teachers, officers, specialists, volunteers and other special guests will be invited to the Club sharing session every Friday. Every session consists of 30 to 60 students.

-Guests’ sharing topics will be announced on Monday so that you could prepare for it.

-Used language: English.

  1. Essential skills sharing: Once a month.

On 29 February 2016, the Club will be officially launched so that everyone can have the first look at how the Club works and get familiar with the volunteers.

This is the annoucement from Hochschule Furtwangen University in Germany. The HFU-Summer School programme 2017 for international students: “White Water Management – Learning Management in a new way” is opening. This summer school teaches relevant management principles in an action-orientated outdoor & white water kayaking environment of the canton Ticino in Switzerland from the 20th of July 2017 until the 27th of July 2017. The course language is English.

Okayama University is one of the top research national universities in Japan. The university has had the special honor of being one of the few higher education institutions selected by the Japan Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as a Super Global University.

Applications for the third cohort of Schwarzman Scholars opened today, April 17, 2017, and we are looking forward to meeting another outstanding group of high-potential young leaders from around the world.

The second class of 129 Schwarzman Scholars, selected in the fall of 2016, is composed of students from 30 countries and 75 universities, with 45% from the United States, 20% from China, and 35% from the rest of the world. Schwarzman Scholars is quickly becoming the premier training ground for future leaders, educating and preparing the world’s most exceptional men and women to confront the difficult challenges of the coming century and develop an understanding of China.

This year, this unparalleled, fully-funded opportunity will be extended to up to 140 future leaders who will begin the program in August 2018. The program is open to students and young professionals between the ages of 18 and 28 years old, regardless of nationality, who are proficient in English and have obtained an undergraduate degree.

The application for the 2018-2019 cohort is now available on the Schwarzman Scholars website and will close on September 28 for applicants from the United States and across the globe. We invite you to read the press release announcing the launch of this year’s application cycle for additional details. For applicants who hold passports from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, or Macao, regardless of where they attended university, the application can be found on the Tsinghua University website and must be submitted by May 31, 2017.

In addition to evaluating applicants’ proven intellectual and academic ability, the admissions process is heavily focused on leadership potential, strength of character, ability to anticipate and act on emerging trends and opportunities, and desire to understand other cultures, perspectives, and positions. Those selected will have demonstrated their potential to not only benefit from but also contribute to the Schwarzman Scholars program and the network of Schwarzman Scholars alumni.

The written application will be reviewed by a distinguished team of readers from around the world who will narrow the pool based on an extensive set of guidelines. Approximately 400 semi-finalists will be invited to an in-person regional interview in Beijing, Singapore, London, or New York, and will go before notable panels comprised of CEOs, former heads of state, university presidents, non-profit executives, journalists, and other leaders from around the world.
