Announcement of ASEAN Scholarships in the PhD in Sustainable Development

The International College of Thaksin University, in Thailand, supports researchers from ASEAN countries by offering three (3) scholarships to promising ASEAN students enrolled in its PhD in Sustainable Development. As the program is meant to be multi-disciplinary, Sustainable Development covers all academic disciplines.

1. Scholarship Award

1.1 The scholarship will cover the tuition fees to enroll in the PhD in Sustainable Development value of 600,000THB (approx. 20,000US$). Further, a research grant of 60,000 THB (approx.2,000US$) will be provided to the thesis supervisor in support of the research of the student.

1.2 Scholarship recipients may be eligible to obtain a Research Assistantship, in the case of research projects benefitting from research grants, or a Teaching Assistantship in specific classes. These Assistantships provide up to 15,000THB (approx. 500US$) per month, for a maximum period of three (3) years.

1.3 The International College will not be responsible for any domestic or international travel costs for the student or their travel partner and family.

1.4 The scholarship will be awarded for a period of three (3) years, with the condition that the student is enrolled at Thaksin University and shows good progress in his or her academic requirements and research work.

2. Eligibility

2.1 To be eligible for the PhD scholarship, the applicant must:

2.1.1 Be a citizen of an ASEAN country (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam).

2.1.2 Not be more than 45 years of age at the time of application.

2.1.3 Have obtained a Master Degree, or have completed any relevant studies, with no lower than a CGPA of 3.5 or equivalent.

2.2 Applicants who, in the past, have not studied in an English program must have taken one of the following English Language Proficiency tests, or any equivalent English tests, not more than two years before the date of application (Please note that Thaksin University reserve the right to interview the applicant to assess fluency in English):

2.2.1 TOEFL - Paper-based (TOEFL Paper), with a score not less than 550

                  - Computer-based (TOEFL CBT), with a score not less than 180

                  - Internet-based (TOEFL IBT), with a score not less than 80

2.2.2 IELTS, with a score not less than 5.5

VIETNAMESE SCHOLAR PROGRAM 2020

The U.S. Mission in Vietnam seeks qualified candidates for the 2020 Fulbright Vietnamese Visiting Scholar Program (VSP).

Eligibilities: Fulbright Vietnamese Visiting Scholar applicants must:

• hold an M.A. or Ph.D. degree
• be Vietnamese citizens
• be proficient in English

Applicants should be university faculty, government officials, private sector professionals, work at a think tank, or occupy other, similar occupations. Applicants will be expected to have a significant record of scholarly or professional accomplishment. Applicants must reside in Vietnam throughout the nomination and selection process, and they must return to Vietnam upon completion of their U.S. stay.

Applicants are ineligible to apply if:

    1. They are currently teaching, studying, or conducting research in the U.S., or who have received a Fulbright grant within the past five years.

    2. They have been to the U.S. as a J-1 Exchange Visitor in the category of Professor or Research Scholar within the past two years.

Grant Length: Applicant may choose a grant for a semester (5 months) or full academic year (9 months)

• A-semester grant (5 months) must begin in September 2020 or January 2021
• One academic year grant (9 months) must begin in September 2020

CHƯƠNG TRÌNH HỌC GIẢ FULBRIGHT VIỆT NAM 2020

Phái đoàn Ngoại giao Hoa Kỳ tại Việt Nam thông báo tuyển chọn ứng viên cho Chương trình Học giả Fulbright Việt Nam (VSP) 2020.

Điều kiện dự tuyển: Ứng viên của chương trình Học giả Fulbright Việt Nam bắt buộc phải:

• có bằng thạc sỹ hoặc tiến sỹ (hoặc tương đương trong một số ngành chuyên môn)
• là công dân Việt Nam
• có trình độ tiếng Anh thành thạo để nghiên cứu hoặc giảng dạy ở Hoa Kỳ

Ứng viên phải là giảng viên đại học, hoặc cán bộ/chuyên viên các bộ hoặc các cơ quan chính phủ, hoặc chuyên viên trong các khối tư nhân/các viện nghiên cứu/các tổ chức phi chính phủ. Chương trình dành quan tâm tới những ứng viên có những thành tựu nổi bật trong nghiên cứu học thuật hoặc chuyên môn. Ứng viên bắt buộc phải đang sinh sống tại Việt Nam trong suốt quá trình nộp hồ sơ và tuyển chọn của chương trình. Ứng viên yêu cầu phải quay về phục vụ Việt Nam sau khi chương trình ở Hoa Kỳ kết thúc.

Ứng viên không hợp lệ dự tuyển nếu:

    1. hiện đang giảng dạy, học, hoặc tiến hành nghiên cứu ở Hoa Kỳ, hoặc đã được nhận học bổng Fulbright trong thời gian năm năm vừa qua

    2. đã được cấp visa Mỹ loại J theo các chương trình trao đổi Giáo sư/Học giả Nghiên cứu trong vòng hai năm vừa qua

Thời gian học bổng: Ứng viên có thể chọn học bổng một học kỳ (tương đương 5 tháng) hoặc một năm học (tương đương 9 tháng)

• Ứng viên chọn học bổng một học kỳ: bắt buộc phải bắt đầu vào tháng 9/2020 hoặc tháng 1/2021
• Ứng viên chọn học bổng một năm học: bắt buộc phải bắt đầu vào tháng 9/2020
