I. The Purpose

The contest "Creative Innovation and Startup Idea – CIFI 2023" aims to create an environment for students to apply their acquired knowledge and research on creating a project, a solution or a startup idea. The main purpose of this competition are:

- A platform bonds National Cheng Kung University Professors with potential international students in general and local Vietnamese students in particular;

- Recruit young talent, potential students to study master, Ph.D programs at NCKU;

- Deeper drive engagement and grow relationships between NCKU and South-East Asia universities;

- Strengthening the bridge between academic and industry collaboration;

- Identifying and developing a broad and robust international community of students who have enthusiasm in innovation and entrepreneurial thinking.

II. Organizers

- Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT);

- Ho Chi Minh City Medical Equipment Association (HMEA).

III. Judging Panels

- NCKU Overseas Hub in Vietnam;

- School of Nursing, College of Medicine, NCKU;

- Institute of International Management, College of Management, NCKU;

- Department of Biomedical Engineering, HCMUT;

- Ho Chi Minh City Medical Equipment Association.

IV. Participants

Students or a group of students (maximum is 5 people) from Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia; regardless of academic major.

V. Prize Structure

- 01 First Prize: 10.000.000 VND (~14.000 NT) and Certificate of Organizing Committee.

- 01 Second prize: 5.000.000 VND (~7.000 NT) and Certificate of Organizing Committee.

- 01 Third prize: 2.000.000 VND (~3.000 NT) and Certificate of Organizing Committee.

- 01 Consolation prize: 1.000.000 VND (~1.500 NT) and Certificate of Organizing Committee.

- 01 Prize won “Most favorite project” based on the voting on Social Media (on Facebook fanpage of NCKU Overseas Hub in Vietnam): 1.000.000 VND (~1.500 NT) and Certificate of Organizing Committee.

-  Special Bonus from HMEA for the First Prize: company establishment subsidy, production line subsidy, office usage and workspace usage.

* The prize includes taxes and Awardee is responsible for the taxes.

VI. Timeline

1. Participants register for the project online via google form (From 10/03/2023 to 07/05/2023).

2. Judges will select proper teams to progress to the Online voting round and Final round.
3. Participants can share and invite their network to vote for their project on Facebook of NCKU Overseas Hub in Vietnam.
4. Announce and award the winners.

VII. Criteria evaluation

A contest submission must address these five scoring areas with a persuasive and interesting presentation. Scoring will be based not only on the proposed solution, but also on your approach to presenting your solution to the panel. As with any professional proposal, you control the message you want to convey.

The five areas of scoring and overall weighting are as follows:

1. Innovation and Creativity (30%)
2. Value Proposition and Relevance (20%)
3. Efficiency and Feasibility (20%)
4. Presentation and Clarification (20%)
5. Social Impact (10%)
